Ó Maolfoghmhair

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Ó MAOLFOGHMHAIR, Ó MAOLFHOGHMHAIR—IO Mulfover, O Mullover, (Milford, Palmer); 'descendant of Maolfoghmhair' (chief of harvest); the name of a distinguished ecclesiastical family who were erenaghs of the church of Killala, and supplied several bishops to that see. O'Donovan found the name still in the district, but anglicised Milford. According to MacFirbis, the family of Mac Céile (which see) is a branch of that of Ó Maolfoghmhair.
