Ó hOdhragáin

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Ó hODHRAGÁIN—IO Hourigaine, O Hourigan, Hourigan; 'descendant of Odhragán' (diminutive of odhar, pale, dark-grey); apparently the name of a family of Corca Laoighdhe, in south-west of Co. Cork, but it cannot now be distinguished in pronunciation from Ó hAnnragáin (which see), which is most probably the origin in Tipperary and Limerick.
