Ó CONNMHACHÁIN—IO Conawchane, O Connowghane, O Conoughan, Kanavaghan, (Conway); 'descendant of Connmhachán' (diminutive of Connmhach); the name of a Sligo family who were followers of the O'Haras. At the beginning of the 17th century it was also found in West Ulster and in Offaly. It is now generally anglicised Conway in Connacht.
