Mac CATHÁIN—IVM'Cahane, MacCahan, MacKane, MacKeen, Keane; 'son of Cathán'; the name of a Clare family who were formerly coarbs of St. Senan at Iniscattery; still well known about Kilrush, anglicised Keane. Also an Ulster surname, but very rare.
