THE McGlanchy family is descended from Ith, uncle of Milesius, King of Spain. The founder of the family was Faha Cahan, of the line of Lugadth, son of Ith, A. D. 194. The ancient name was Glanach and signifies “Virtue.” The possessions of the family were located in the present Counties of Mayo and Sligo.
