Ó SLUAGHADHAIGH—IO Slowey, Slowey, Sloey, Sloy, (Molloy, Mulloy); 'descendant of Sluaghadhach' (belonging to a host, fit for hosting); the name of a family which apparently belonged originally to Roscommon, but is now dispersed through Connacht and Ulster. The Four Masters, under the year 1015, record the death of Maolphádraig Ua Sluaghadhaigh, sage of Ireland; and in 1190, Giolla Bhearaigh Ó Sluaghadhaigh was slain by Turlough O'Connor. The name is strangely anglicised Molloy, Mulloy, in parts of Ulster.
