Ó MAOLAITHCHE—I—Mullahy, (Mulloy); 'descendant of Maolaithche' or 'Maolaithghein' (votary of regeneration); the name of a family of Ui Eachach Muaidhe, in Co. Mayo, where, though very rare, it still survives. It is sometimes shortened to Ó Maolaith and anglicised Mulloy. The family was also called Ó Maolaithghein, which see.
