Ó DUINNEACHÁIN—IO Duinaghan, O Dwynighan, Dinahan, Dinihan, Denehan, Deenihan; 'descendant of Duinneachán' (diminutive of donn, brown); an attenuated form of Ó Donnacháin, which see; a rare surname, found chiefly in Limerick and Kerry. The family, according to Dr. O'Brien, belonged originally to Uaithne, the present barony of Owney, in Limerick and Tipperary.
