Ó CNÁIMHSIGHE—IO Cnawsie, O Knawsie, O Crashie, Kneafsey, Neaphsey, Neecy, Cramsie, Crampsey, &c., and, by 'translation,' Boner, Bonner, &c.; 'descendant of Cnáimhseach' (a woman's name, corresponding to Cnáimhín); a Donegal surname; now also in Mayo, often corrupted to Ó Cráimhsighe. It is one of our very few metronymic surnames.
