Ó CINNCHNÁMHA—I—Kinnavy, Kineavy; 'descendant of Ceannchnámha' (bone-head); the name of a branch of the Ui Fiachrach, who were anciently proprietors of a district in the barony of Carra, Co. Mayo, where the family is still extant. I have not been able to discover any early anglicised form of the name.
