Ó an CHÁINTE—IIIO Encantie, On Conty, Canty, County; 'descendant of the satirist' (Irish 'cáinteach'); the name of a bardic family in West Cork. Fearfeasa Ó an Cháinte was a celebrated poet who flourished about the beginning of the 17th century, and took part in the 'Contention of the Bards.' See Ó Cáinte.
