Mac MHÍOLCHON—IV—M'Melchon, MacIlchon, MacConn; 'son of Míolchú' (grey-hound); an old Fermanagh surname. The m of the second part of the surname is now aspirated, and sometimes altogether dropped; hence the present anglicised forms, MacIlchon and MacConn.
