Mac an PHEARSÚIN, Mac an PHEARSAIN—VII—M'Efarson, M'Eparson, M'Parson, MacPharson, MacPherson, MacFarson, MacFerson, Pherson, Parsons; 'son of the parson' (Irish 'pearsún,' Latin 'persona'); a scattered surname. Many of the name in Ireland are, no doubt, descended from the famous Highland clan, Mac an Phearsain.
