There are many cases where a Contraction is substituted for the full name. The following will serve as examples:—

Free for Freeman.

Neazor for Bovenizor.

Pender for Prendergast.

Pendy for Prendeville.

Roy for M‘Ilroy and Royston.

Turk for Turkington.
