Ó DUIBHGINN—IO Duygin, O Digin, Digin, Diggin, Deegin, Digan, Deighan, Deegan, Duigan, (Dugan, Duggan, Duggen); 'descendant of Dubhceann' (Black-head). There are three distinct families of this name, formerly seated respectively in Galway, Clare and Wexford. It was also common, at the beginning of the 17th century, in Offaly and Leix and also in Kerry. It is now sometimes disguised under the anglicised form of Dugan, or Duggan.
