Ó CORMAIC—IO Cormack, O Cormick, Cormac, Cormack, Cormick; 'descendant of Cormac' (son of Corb, or son of a chariot, charioteer); the name (1) of a branch of the Oirghialla, seated in the barony of Tirkeeran, Co. Derry, until dispossessed by the O'Kanes; (2) of a branch of the Corca Laoighdhe, in South-west Cork, where the name was common in the 16th century; (3) of a Dalcassian family, probably the same as Ó Cormacáin, which see; and (4) of a Co. Down family, also probably the same as Ó Cormacáin.
