Preface

The writer, when compiling these articles, did not intend to publish them in book form. Owing to frequent requests to do so, he publishes them in the hope that they may be of interest to those readers who have not leisure to go more deeply into the story of these early times, and of the stirring events from which has evolved our fair Province of Ulster.

In compiling the articles, the writer is indebted to many authors, from whom he freely quotes; among the number are Bishop Reeves, Froude, Lecky, Lord Macaulay, Kernohan, Doyle, Adams, O’Laverty. Sampson’s “Survey” has also been utilised.
