RÉAMONN—VIIIRemund, Reymund, Raymond, Redmond, &c.; 'son of Remund' (French 'Raimond,' Frankish 'Raginmund'; not from Anglo-Saxon 'Raedmund,' as I think can be proved); the name of an old Wexford family. In 1598, Redmond of the Hooke was one of the principal gentlemen of Co. Wexford, as was, in 1608, Redmond of the Hall. Several gentlemen of the name were attainted in 1691.
