Ó hADHNAIDH, Ó hADHNAIGH—IO Heynee, O Hyneye, Hyney, Hiney; 'descendant of Adhnadh' (old age; wise); also Ó hAidhne and Ó hEidhnigh; the name (1) of a Galway family who were anciently chiefs of Gno-beg, in the present barony of Moycullen; and (2) of a West Cork family. In the 16th century, it was very scattered and is now extremely rare.
