Ó GOBÁIN—IO Gobbane, O Gobban, O Gubben, Gobin; 'descendant of Gobán,' (diminutive of gob, a mouth, snout); a rare Ulster surname; in the 16th century, found chiefly in Tyrone and Donegal; perhaps the origin of Gubbins in Co. Limerick.
