Mac Laithimh

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Mac LAITHIMH—IVM'Glave, MacLave, MacClave, Claffey, Claffy, and, by 'translation,' Hand; 'son of Flaitheamh'; a variant of Mac Fhlaithimh and Mag Laithimh, which see. The surname was so pronounced as to be mistaken for Mac Láimh; hence the erroneous translation Hand.
