Mac GÉIBHEANNAIGH—IV—MacGeaveny, MacKeaveny, MacKeaveney, Geaveny, Keaveny, Keaveney, Keveney; 'son of Géibheannach' (fettered); originally a Fermanagh surname; found at the end of the 16th century in Sligo and Mayo; now common in Connacht, but very rare in Ulster.
