Mac FHIONNÁIN—IVM'Kynnan, M'Kennan, Kinnan, Kennan; 'son of Fionnán' (diminutive of fionn, fair). This surname appears to have been in use in Tyrone, but its present anglicised forms cannot be distinguished from those of Ó Cuinneáin and Ó Cianáin, which see. See also Mag Fhionnáin, which is a variant.
