Mac FHÍODHBHUIDHE—IVM'Eboy, M'Ebwy, M'Ewy, MacEvoy, MacAvoy, MacVoy, Evoy; a corruption of Mac Fhíodhbhadhaigh, 'son of Fíodhbhadhach' (i.e., of the wood, woodman); the name of a family in Leix, who were anciently chiefs of Tuath-Fiodhbhuidhe, which appears to have been situated in the barony of Stradbally.
