Mac BRUAIDEADHA—IVM'Brouddie, M'Broudy, M'Brodie, MacBrody, Brody, Brodie; 'son of Bruaideadh.' The MacBrodys were hereditary bards and historians to the O'Briens of Thomond from whom they held, in virtue of their office, considerable property at Ballybrody, Kilkeedy and Littermoylan, in Co. Clare. Several distinguished members of the family figure in Irish literary history. Conor MacBrody was one of the learned men whose approbation is prefixed to the Annals of the Four Masters.
