Mac an CHOILIGH—VIIM'Akolly, M'Anchelly, MacQuilly, and, by translation, Cox, Coxe; 'son of the cock' (Irish 'coileach'); the name of a Roscommon family who were coarbs of St. Barry at Kilbarry, in the east of that county, and perhaps of other families in different parts of Ireland. Its anglicised forms are difficult to distinguish from those of Mac Conchoille, which see. See also Mac Coiligh.
