Mac An Chaoich

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Mac an CHAOICH—VIIM'Echey, M'Ekey, M'Keegh, MacKee, and probably Keyes; 'son of the blind man' (Irish 'caoch'). This was a designation of a branch of the O'Reillys in Cavan and the neighbouring counties, but was also found in other parts of Ireland, especially in Limerick and Tipperary; hence probably Keyes.
