HAIMLÍN—VIIIHamelyn, Hamlin, Hamlyn, etc.; 'son of Hamelin' (double diminutive of Hamo). This family came to Ireland in the 13th century and settled in Dublin and Meath. Hamlen of Smythstown was one of the chief gentlemen of Meath in 1598.
