GÓISÉIR—XII—Gosnall, Gosnell; probably Irish 'góiséir,' a hosier, a dealer in stockings; the name of a family of late English origin in West Cork who, perhaps, first became known to the Irish as hosiers. Henry Gosnell was Queen's attorney in Munster in the reign of Elizabeth.
