FUIREASTAL—XIIFurestal, Forestall, Forrestal, Forstall, Forrester, Forster; Latin 'forestarius,' English 'the forester,' i.e., the forest-keeper, custodian of the forest, very common in early Anglo-Irish records; the name of an Anglo-Norman family long settled in Kilkenny, the head of which held the manors of Kilferagh and Ballyfrunck; also of a family in Co. Wexford.
