de HOSAE, de HÚSAE—XIde Hosey, de Husee, Hussey; Norman 'de Hosse,' 'de Heose,' etc., i.e. of Houssaye in Normandy. This family came into Ireland at the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion and settled in Dublin, Louth and Meath. In the last-named county the Husseys obtained large possessions, including Galtrim from which they took the title of baron. A branch of the family settled in the 16th century at Dingle, Co. Kerry. The Husseys suffered much in the wars of the 17th century.
