CADAL—VIII—Cadell, Caddell, etc.; 'son of Cadell' (a Welsh personal name corresponding to the Irish Cathal); the name of a family of Welsh origin who came to Ireland in the 13th century and settled in Dublin, Meath and Galway. The Caddells of Galway have long since assumed the surname of Blake. See de Bláca.
