AILÍN—VIII—Alwine, Allyne, Allin, Allen, etc.; 'son of Ailwin' (Anglo-Saxon Æthelwine); the name of an English family who settled in Ireland at or soon after the invasion. It can hardly be now distinguished from Ailéin, which see.
