In Hall's "Ireland, its Scenery and Character," 1841, are a number of woodcuts after drawings by J. Egan, three in Vol. I and twenty, mostly views in and about Kilkenny, in Vol. II. He is mentioned in the work as "a clever artist of Clonmel."
