The O’Brannon Family

THE O’Brannon family is descended from Milesius, King of Spain, through the line of his son Heremon. The founder of the family was Earca, son of Olliol Molt, King of Ireland, A. D. 463. The ancient name was Braonain and signifies “Sorrowful.” The possessions of the clan were located in Queens County. The O’Brannons were Lords of Idough and Chiefs of Kinel Eada, in the barony of Fassadining, in Kilkenny.
