(Crest No. 239. Plate 53.)

THE McAnulty family is descended from Milesius, King of Spain, through the line of his son Heremon. The founder of the family was Eogan, ancestor of the Northern Hy Nials and son of Nial of the Nine Hostages, King of Ireland, A. D. 379. The ancient name was McNulty and signifies “Son of Noble.” The possessions of the clan were located in the present Counties of Donegal and Cavan.

The name is frequently spelled McNulty and Nulty. There are many of this family in Ireland and the United States to-day. In the latter country among its representatives occupying prominent positions in professional and business life, may be mentioned Major Peter McNulty, the wealthy Brooklyn merchant.
