Brabazon

Padraig Mac Giolla-Domhnaigh
1923

Brabazon—This Norman name has been assumed by some of the Brollaghans in Co. Cavan (O'Brolchain). The name of Brabazon was settled early in the counties of Louth and Meath, and the Earls of Meath bore the name as Baron Brabazon of Ardee, by which their ancestor, Sir Edward Brabazon, was elevated to the Peerage of Ireland in 1616. The Brabazons of Cavan should reassume their old Irish surname of O'Brollaghan. See Bradly.
