From A Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, 1837
ISERTKELLY, or DYSERTKELLY, a parish, in the barony of LOUGHREA, county of GALWAY, and province of CONNAUGHT, 7 ½ miles (S. W.) from Loughrea on the road to Gort; containing 282 inhabitants. Here is Castleboy, the seat of R. Persse, Esq., in whose demesne are the ruins of an ancient castle in good preservation. It is a vicarage, in the diocese of Kilmacduagh, forming part of the union of Killinane; the rectory is appropriate to the see. The tithes amount to £34, of which £6 is payable to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, and the remainder to the vicar.
From a sad, comfortless childhood Giles Truelove developed into a reclusive and uncommunicative man whose sole passion was books. For so long they were the only meaning to his existence. But when fate eventually intervened to have the outside world intrude upon his life, he began to discover emotions that he never knew he had.
A story for the genuine booklover, penned by an Irish bookseller under the pseudonym of Ralph St. John Featherstonehaugh.
