PHAGHAN—VIII—Fyan, Fyans, Foynes; a variant of Paghan, which see. A family of this name settled early at Fyanston in Co. Meath. The name occurs several times in the list of mayors of Limerick in the 13th and 14th centuries. Compare with Faghan.
