Páidín

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

PÁIDÍN—VIIIPadyn, Padin, Paden, Padden, Pattin, Patten, Patton, &c.; 'son of Padin,' or 'Pattin' (diminutive of Patrick). It will come as a surprise to most people to learn that our Páidín is of English origin. Yet, like Patrick, it was once very common in the north of England. 'Padin Urs' is one of the earliest entries in the Dublin Roll of Names (A.D. 1216), and 'Padyn' is a surname in the English Hundred Rolls.
