Ó LOMASNA—IO Lomasny, O'Lomasney, Lomosney; 'descendant of Lomasna' (bare rib); the name of an old Munster family which apparently originated in South Tipperary, where Baile Uí Lomasna, now anglicised Ballynomasna, in the parish of Tubrid, marks its ancient home; now very rare and scattered, but found chiefly in South Cork. There are a few families of the name in West Limerick.
