Ó hAOILLEACHÁIN—I—O Hillichain, O Heleghane, O Helighane, O Hylegane, Hellican, Helehan, Helihan, (O'Higgins, Higgins, Hedigan); a variant of Ó Faoilleacháin, through the loss of the initial f. It is strangely anglicised Higgins in the neighbourhood of Dungarvan and Hedigan about Kilkee.
