Ó hAINMHIRE, Ó hAINMHIREACH—IO Hanvirre, O Hanneraghe, Hanberry, Hanbury, (Ansberry, Ansboro); 'descendant of Ainmhire' (compound of Ain-, a negative or intensitive particle, and mire, madness, levity); an old Connacht surname, corruptly Ó hAinmneach. It still survives in Co. Galway under the English form of Ansboro, Hanbury, &c. Maelísa Ó hAinmhire was Archbishop of Cashel in the early part of the 12th century.
