Ó Fraocháin

Rev Patrick Woulfe
1923

Ó FRAOCHÁIN—IO Freaghan, (French); 'descendant of Fraochán' (diminutive of fraoch, prowess, fury); a rare Connacht surname. O'Donovan gives the anglicised form as French, but I cannot verify it. It is found in the form Ó Fraoichín, anglicised Frehen, in the neighbourhood of Shrule.
