Ó FINN—IO Finn, O Finne, Finn, Fynn, Finne; 'descendant of Fionn' (fair); the name (1) of a Breifney family who were chiefs of Calraighe of Lough Gill, now the parish of Calry, near the town of Sligo; (2) of a Monaghan family who were lords of Feara Rois, in the neighbourhood of Carrickmacross; and (3) of a Galway family who were formerly erenaghs of Kilcolgan. All these families are still well represented in their native districts; and the name is also found in various other parts of Ireland.
