Ó CURNÁIN, Ó CÚRNÁIN—I—O Kurnane, Curnane, Cournane, (Courtney); 'descendant of Curnán' (an ancient Irish personal name, the same as Cuirnín); a Kerry surname. It is a variant of the Breifney surname Ó Cuirnín, and there is reason for believing that the families are the same.
