Ó CUANA, Ó CUANACH—IO Cowna, O Cwony, O Coony, Cooney; 'descendant of Cuana' (handsome, elegant); the name of a family who, according to O'Dugan, were chiefs of Clann Fergus in Ulster. At the end of the 16th century it was most common in Sligo and Cork.
