Ó BÁRDÁIN—IIIO Bardane, O Barden, Bardan, Barden, Bardon; 'descendant of the little bard' (Irish bárd, diminutive bárdán); a rare surname; almost peculiar, in the 16th century, to Wexford and Longford. The O'Bardons of Longford seem to have been at one time professional harpers.
