Mac CONCHOIGCHRÍCE—IVM'Conchogrye, M'Enkegrie, M'Nikegrie, and now, by 'translation,' L'Estrange; 'son of Cú-choigchríche' (border-hound); the name of a family who were anciently chiefs of Muinntear Searcachain in Westmeath or Offaly. It still survives in the midlands under the Frenchified form of L'Estrange.
