Mac an MHANAIGH—VIIM'Ivannagh, M'Vany, MacEvany, MacEvanny, MacVany, [Monk, Monks]; 'son of the monk' (Irish 'manach'); a rare surname. So far as I know, it survives only in Co. Mayo. The corresponding English surname is Monk or Monks.
